NASA Tests New 'Eyes' for Mars 2022 Rover

NASA is giving its Mars 2022 rover new 'eyes'. The space agency just appear it successfully tested a new 'Lander Vision System (LVS)' for its Mars 2022 rover. The paradigm vision arrangement launched 1,066ft into the air in Mojave, California, aboard a uniquely fabricated rocket.

Made together with Masten Space Systems, the specially designed launcher platform will assist guide the rocket to a "precise landing at a pre-designated target," NASA said.

"With information technology, the platform tin can and then direct the craft towards a safe landing at its master target site or divert touchdown toward improve terrain if there are hazards in the approaching target area," NASA explained.

Andrew Johnson, Principal Investigator in the LVS development, said the tests evidence that the system will enable Mars 2022 to land safely on the Ruby-red Planet.

"In the end, we showed a closed loop pinpoint landing demo that eliminated any technical concerns with flying the LVS on Mars 2022," Johnson shared.

With LVS all prepare for inclusion on Mars 2022, the researchers are now focused on building the flying system that will soar to World's neighbor.

Meanwhile, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) scientists recently developed a technique to help the 2022 NASA Mars rover rapidly and non-invasively place sediments on the Red Planet that maintain much of their original composition. Such 'pristine' samples, MIT noted, are researchers' all-time shot at identifying signs of present or former life on Mars.
